Age: June 3, 1990
Grade: 12; Senior year
Occupation outside of school? Currently an employee at Lava Springs
Clubs/Sports Scholastic Decathlon Team, Yearbook Committee, Dance Committee
Appearance
Physical Description: Taylor has dark skin, a feature she described once as milk chocolate in response to someone calling her black. Her skin has few blemishes, something she feels very fortunate about considering the complaints of many of her classmates. She has a couple scars though. One is on her elbow, from accidentally leaning into an iron when she was twelve, as well as a couple on her knees from her childhood. Only a couple are very noticeable though, most having faded with age by this point in time.
Her eyes are dark brown, though they appear lighter under certain lights. They laugh when she laughs, and flash with anger when she's pissed off. They're set on either side of her nose, which isn't slender like the princesses of the high school , but isn't overly large either. Her hair is dark and thick, slightly wiry hair that is often associated with people of African-American or Jamaican descent.. She has very full lips, which occasionally are graced with the presence of lipstick when she's in the mood to feel girly.
Over the past couple years, that mood comes around more and more frequently, proved by outfits of flirty skirts, cute cut shirts, and an assortment of decorative hair accessories. She likes to have fun when she gets dressed, throwing outfits together till she finds one she likes. Shoes, by the way, are a serious must. Don't even joke about the importance of a cute pair of shoes to make or break an outfit. Despite herself, she's found herself fitting into the world of jocks and giggling gossip, even if it's mostly with the kids from the play.

Information
Personality: Taylor has a very head-strong personality, which can be a bit overwhelming at times. She likes to get things done, and she likes to be the one doing them. She's extremely involved in several school functions, though mercifully not cheerleading. She doesn't think much of them, despite the fact that she can "speak their language", as she says. She believes that intelligence will rule the world, with her at its head as president of the United States one day. And she's confident she'll get there. There aren't many things that make her doubt herself, which can make her a force to be reckoned with in itself.
Taylor is bright. As in, school decathlon team and honors classes, and planning to attend Yale next year. She's also clever, which are a very dangerous combination. She's a schemer, and can be a bit manipulative when it comes to getting what she wants. Of course, she feels bad about it later: especially if it has negative effects she wasn't anticipating, like that whole "TroyxGabriella" mess. But then she just goes back into scheming mode to fix things. Lucky her, sometimes the reverse-schemes work. Of course, she never takes into account that they might not. After all, as long as she's in charge, why wouldn't they?
And while Taylor loves work, she loves play too. She can have her immature moments just like the rest of us, where she'll twirl just to see her skirt flair or cheer like a little kid while driving the golf cart. She's a firm believer in the "girl code", with those secret rules that somehow all girls are expected to know. She takes her sister's advice to heart, at least where boys and best friends are concerned. And it seems to be fairly decent advice, because they haven't totally backfired yet.
She's extremely protective. She does not like to see her friends miserable and ick, whether it's her fault or someone else's. And she'll take drastic measures to get them back to upbeat and annoying, whether they want her to or not. But it's the Taylor charm, because she can tell someone what to do with a smile on her face. Usually. Other times, she just kinda resembles a drill sergeant. She likes things done properly, from being asked out on dates to invitations to an event, to organizing the event. If it's not done right the first time, you better keep doing it till it is. Even if you're her crush or best friend, she won't make an exception.

History: Taylor McKessie is Albuquerque born and raised, having been born in the local hospital at the crack of dawn on June 3, 1990. It kinda suits her, doesn't it? She's always been the earlier riser, first to jump at an opportunity. Even from a young age, she was rather head strong. Her parents learned rather early on to just encourage her and go along for it, because she certainly did not seem to want anyone holding her by the hand. She did, however, look up to her older sister in that way that younger sisters usually do. Her word was pretty much law throughout her early childhood, and even when that ended she had a tendency to at least consider her sister's words before moving on.
She's never thought very highly of that popular crowd. She'd, you know, talk to them if she had to. Like, school fund raisers and group projects or something like that. But she was never shy to voice the opinion, or at least strongly imply, that she always sort of considered herself above them. A little shallow of her? Maybe, but she never saw it that way. And that attitude carried her largely through Elementary and Junior High schools. And it didn't really change until the fall of junior year, when she was forced to work alongside Chad and the rest of the basketball team to reunite Gabriella and Troy after, you know, breaking them apart. Anything for the best friends, right?
But the temporary union had unexpected consequences as she found herself more and more often in the company of those that she always thought the least of: the jocks. After all, when your best friend dated Troy Bolton, there wasn't much you could do about the extra baggage, right? And she also found herself more and more often in the company of Chad, whom she worked with once again to help Gabriella and Troy pull off their double-obligation day of Gabriella's decathlon and Troy's game before the play.
Weirder still, she found herself, you know, liking him. Even if sorta dating him was like going on a threesome, with him always taking a basketball everywhere he goes. Do you know how shocked she was when Troy helped all the Wildcats get a job at Lava Springs and Chad showed up without the ball? Honestly. Her heart might have stopped for a moment purely from shock. Of course, that didn't last too long. Before she knew it, she was hating that job and wishing she could just quit. But nooo, Troy and Gabriella wouldn't let them. Ugh. But she agreed to try it out. After all, she kinda needed the money if she wanted to be able to afford getting into Yale.
Once again she and Chad sort of stuck together when working at Lava Springs began to change Troy. She felt bad for Chad, honestly. It must really suck to watch your best friend change into a conceited jerk. Even she wanted to go off on him, and she was the one that blamed Sharpay. She was the one who warned Gabriella from the get-go to watch out for the slimy drama queen after witnessing her with Troy in the golf court. But did anyone listen to her? Noooo. But Sharpay got exposed for her game soon enough when the staff got told they couldn't participate in the talent show they'd been prepping so hard for, although Taylor wasn't expecting Gabriella to just give up on Troy. Not that she forgave the forgetful idiot, not right away anyway. She backed up Gabriella all the way, although she hated that her best friend quit afterwards.
But that didn't mean they were gonna leave it that way.
She was among the group that conspired to get Troy and Gabriella together again, with Ryan's help. He's the one who, with Lacey, changed the music and bumped Sharpay. And Taylor's the one who got Gabriella to show up, as only a best friend can. It was cuuute, even if her best friend was in love with a jock. She couldn't exactly be one to talk anymore, you know? Not that she um, loved Chad. Shush. Just was in-like. Like, a lot in-like. Not that she'd let that interfere with her usual get-go, especially once school starts again. But for the last weeks of summer... you know, she could make an exception. A little, tiny, teeny one.

Since that horrible Charms class when she'd been partnered, quite unexpectedly (for she wouldn't have pushed herself off that cliff) with Mickey Bryani, Mel had been trying to make herself be a little more sociable. You know, trying to pretend she knew nothing about that kiss or anything like that. And at the same time scheming a way to make it go away... or, you know, be overshadowed. She sighed, running her hands through her blond hair as she headed back to the Common Room after dinner. The only problem was figuring out how and what. She should put that energy towards her homework... her teachers were actually starting to be concerned with how much better her performance was since she found herself avoiding social situations.
Irony. They want her to do better, and then panic when she does.
Aye, but anyway... She found herself being severely distracted during dinner. Could anyone blame her though? Mickey had decided to sit right across from her, and she and Amy had spent a large part of dinner discussing Emmett. Awkward turtle hand motions shall be inserted here, thank you. Needless to say, she found herself simply fascinated by tonight's meal. You know, till she just couldn't tolerate it anymore and she found a way to excuse herself and practically bolt out of the Great Hall. After that she proceeded to wander the corridors semi-aimlessly until she decided she couldn't avoid the Common Room forever. Besides, Mickey rarely returned to their common room before curfew when she didn't have to.
Through the not-so-secret entrance, yadda-yadda... Fairly routine, after four years. Almost mundane. But she loved the common room, even if it was in the dungeons and therefor had kinda creeped her out in a freaked but fascinated kinda way back in her first year. A few students had already found there way to the common room, disregarding the idea of pressing their curfew for the sake of doing some homework some time before midnight (which Mel usually pulled). It threw her off her beat for a moment, not sure what she should do now that she was somewhere. Not like she could go to bed this early, but she wasn't sure she was in the mood for idle chit chat.
She'd actually been scouting the room for Sander, whom she couldn't recall spotting at dinner, when her eyes instead landed on Roxie by the fireplace. Sitting in Mel's favorite chair, but that was of little coincidence. Most of the chairs were rather comfy, if old. She bit her lip, frowning slightly to herself in thought. Roxie... er, well, had a reputation, as far as she'd heard. Granted, a bit of what she'd heard had come from Tyson, whom she liked despite the fact that many people didn't, but that still came with a grain of salt. She wasn't so naive as to take in everything he said when she knew very well that he and Roxie weren't anything near tight. But still, she'd had at least one boyfriend, that much was true right?
A quick glance around, and no Mickey insight... hm.
She made her decision rather quickly, taking hurried strides towards the fire before someone else could snag Roxie's attention. She didn't want someone to overhear, and she trusted Roxie. She was Sander's friend, wasn't she? Okay, tiny little sibling complex there... but the good kind, honest She didn't think Sander would hang out with someone who was less than trust worthy, no matter what other people said.
"Hiiya," she said cheerfully, plopping into the chair besides Roxie and tucking her feet under her. She grinned somewhat childishly at the older Badger, a trademark thing she supposed. No one expected a less-than-excited Melly... and she wasn't very good at behaving differently than people expected her to. Maybe that was why this boy thing was so d**ned difficult. "Whatcha doiiin?" She rested her chin on her knees as she looked at the dark haired Hufflepuff, still smiling. It felt slightly overplayed, out of place, but it was just... you know, her. There was no help for it. Notice the semi-tactful question? Mel knew she wasn't the only one around the castle beginning to seriously begrudge the traditional 'how are you's.
